Oncology drug treatment at the SPSU N. I. Pirogov Clinic of High Medical Technologies (hereinafter referred to as the Clinic)
This subdivision exists since March 2019. The need for this treatment is very high. Today about 150 patients a month receive cancer chemotherapy treatment in our clinic in St. Petersburg.
Depending on the purpose, there are:

adjuvant chemotherapy (prophylactic), which is prescribed after radical surgical removal of a tumor or definitive radiation therapy to eradicate micrometastases circulating in the body;

neoadjuvant chemotherapy, which is prescribed before radical surgical removal of a tumor or definitive radiation therapy; the main purpose of this type of treatment is to reduce the size of the tumor, which allows to perform a more attenuated surgical intervention;

therapeutic chemotherapy aimed at treatment of the metastases to manage the tumor growth. It allows to improve the condition of the patient and extend his life.
