The Pirogov Clinic of High Medical Technologies is the only clinic in St Petersburg with a full range of endoscopic diagnostic tests for gastrointestinal disorders, including enteroscopy − examination of the small intestine mucosa. The pathology of the small intestine is quite common, but, until recently, it was impossible to examine the small intestine and do intraluminal endoscopic tests.

- The therapeutic and diagnostic complex on Kadetskaia Line, Vasilyevsky Island, comprises equipped suites for esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and colonoscopy, including examinations under anaesthesia for adults and children over four years old.

- resection of the mucosa and submucosal dissections at an early stage of stomach cancer;
- endoscopic arrest of haemorrhage;

- expansion of cicatricial narrowing of the oesophagus;

- 1. The Endoscopy Department is equipped with various models of state-of-the-art endoscopes produced by the Japanese company ‘Olympus’. It is possible to examine mucosa in polarised light with a three-hundred-fold increase of tissues, and conduct research using devices with varying stiffness to name just a few. This enables doctors to study in detail changes in the mucosa of internal organs, identify even the most initial ones and, if necessary, collect tissues for histological examination or remove cancerous tissues completely.
